What the Job Involves
As a Senior Lawyer in Housing Disrepair, your role is to lead and motivate a team within the Legal Department to ensure high performance. You will manage budgets, projects, and assess your team's performance to recommend improvements. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal services across the council, particularly in complex and politically sensitive cases with minimal supervision. Your duties include advocacy, mentoring colleagues, communicating with elected members, and collaborating with partners and stakeholders. Additionally, you will contribute to the strategic management of the Legal Services Team, deliver relevant legal training, and support risk management and performance benchmarks.
Skills
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent
- 5+ years post-qualification in Housing Disrepair, plus one other legal area
- Experience in civil litigation, prosecutions, or similar fields
- Coaching and mentoring abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Innovative problem-solving
- Experience in collaborative stakeholder engagement
