Visiting Officer (Scale 6)

Who You Are

Join our Financial Assessment / Income and Debt Team as a Visiting Officer! This role spans two services, offering a variety of tasks, including:

• Inspecting empty or altered properties
• Conducting residency checks and assessment visits
• Assisting housebound or vulnerable customers without support
• Collecting income-related data and other council reductions

As a Visiting Officer, you'll provide a high-quality, professional service across the Assessment Hub, following standard procedures with minimal supervision. Access to your own vehicle is essential, and travel expenses will be covered. All visits are local to Enfield, and you'll need to produce detailed reports.

What the Job Involves

Responsible for delivering, to a high standard, the visiting support service menus, working as part of a pooled resource. This role involves:

• Understanding and responding to customer needs with technical advice
• Initiating and supporting continuous improvement and automation
• Developing and maintaining skills in delivering support services
• Dealing with customer enquiries and maintaining audit trails
• Collaborating closely with Assessment Hub managers for integrated service delivery
• Maintaining updated knowledge of policies, procedures, and statutory legislation

Skills

• Experience in providing a visiting service
• Adaptability and willingness to work across different hubs
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex matters
• Good IT and technical skills

• Understanding of collection, income-related assessments, and benefit services
• Knowledge of best practices in income collection and assessment within a local authority
