What the Job Involves
The role of Access Screening Officer involves enabling customers to communicate with the Council and access necessary services and information through multiple IT solutions. You'll assess customer eligibility for services, funding, benefits, and concessions, while identifying and mitigating risks for elderly or vulnerable service users. This will include conducting initial assessments and signposting customers to preventative services as needed. You will primarily handle incoming inquiries via the telephone, gather initial information on referrals, make decisions on eligibility, and contribute to continuous service improvement and promoting a positive image of the Council.
