Who You Are
An experienced Planning Enforcement Officer who is proactive, collaborative, and can operate effectively in high-profile and demanding situations. You will identify breaches in planning legislation and facilitate solutions while working within a geographical area or as part of a multi-agency task force, demonstrating a strong commitment to tackling inequalities and promoting fairness, growth, and sustainability within the community.
What the Job Involves
As a Planning Enforcement Officer with the Council, your responsibilities include:
- Investigating and resolving significant breaches of legislation across traditional boundaries.
- Managing enforcement tasks as part of a multi-agency team involving Council Services, Police, and regulatory bodies.
- Contributing to the Pollution Control, Planning, and Licensing Enforcement Action Plan.
- Serving as a contact point for residents and businesses in a designated area, coordinating and resolving complaints and issues.
- Providing leadership advice on planning enforcement appeals and collaborating with stakeholders and partners.
Skills
- Proven ability to identify and resolve breaches in planning legislation
- Experience managing challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
- Solution-oriented and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Experience with the planning appeals process and legal proceedings
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements for enforcement services
