Who You Are
- A qualified Social Worker with a minimum Upper Second degree or equivalent and registration with Social Work England.
- You have a thorough understanding of the Children Act, Leaving Care Act, and other relevant legislation affecting child welfare and protection.
- Your proficiency in spoken and written English, paired with advanced computer literacy, enables effective case management and report production under strict deadlines.
- Possessing excellent communication skills, you excel in direct work with children and engage collaboratively with parents and carers to prioritize children's needs.
- You have considerable experience working in culturally diverse settings, aligning with principles of diversity and equality.
- You demonstrate strong analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of legislative, policy, and practice issues, crucial for effective risk assessment and case plan implementation.
- Your commitment to delivering enhanced outcomes for children is evident through your willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
- Prior completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) is advantageous.
- You embody key behaviours such as accountability, openness, and collaboration, fostering a constructive work ethos within the team.
What the Job Involves
- Conducting detailed assessments and offering social work services to families in line with statutory duties and council policies.
- Ensuring the progression of cases to safeguard vulnerable children, while employing current research to guide interventions.
- Partaking in duty teams or rota systems to handle contacts, referrals, Section 47 enquiries, and child and family assessments.
- Assuming responsibility for Care Proceedings, representing the Local Authority in court, drawing on extensive court experience.
- Exemplifying accountability in service delivery, embracing challenges, and adhering to service commitments.
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of resources in the specialist area to optimize benefits within the department’s budget constraints.
- Engaging with internal and external partners, including team managers, service managers, frontline social workers, and other agencies.
- Adhering to the Council's Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies and fulfilling all associated responsibilities.
- Assiduously guarding the confidentiality and security of information in compliance with the Council’s policies.
- Upholding a commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, contributing to robust recruitment and safeguarding practices.
- Participating in mandatory training and development activities for personal growth and enhanced service delivery.
