You are a skilled and experienced Arborist, passionate about maintaining and managing a healthy tree stock. You believe in providing clean, safe, and welcoming open spaces. You have the ability to make decisions under pressure, handle conflicting priorities, and oversee a team in high-risk environments with minimal supervision. You also possess a strong commitment to health and safety practices and comply with relevant legislation and guidelines.
What the Job Involves
The role involves working with Enfield Council's Tree Team to ensure the borough's parks and open spaces remain attractive and well-maintained. You will be responsible for supervising up to five staff members and deputizing for the Tree Team Supervisor when required. The job includes performing various arboricultural operations, such as tree planting, pruning, and felling, using specialized tools and equipment, and maintaining compliance with health and safety policies. You will also provide training to Assistant Arborists and Apprentices.
Skills
- Chainsaw maintenance and operation (CS30.1, CS30.2, CS31, CS39)
- Aerial rescue (CS38)
- Interpretation and application of tree management legislation
- Experience in tree surgery and public location operations
- Driving license with towing capabilities (C1/C1E/BE)
- First aid (desirable)
- Stump grinding and wood chipper operations (desirable)
- MEWP & Chainsaw use in MEWP (desirable)
- Street works signing, lighting, and guarding (desirable)
- Safe use of pesticides (desirable)
