Who You Are
You are a dedicated and compassionate professional committed to making a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families. You possess strong communication skills, both spoken and written, and demonstrate excellent analytical abilities within complex casework and care planning. You have a social work degree and are registered with Social Work England, with comprehensive knowledge of children and family legislation.
What The Job Involves
This role involves undertaking assessments and providing social work services based on the council's statutory duties. You will work closely with other professionals within the council and external agencies to manage cases, ensuring that interventions are informed by up-to-date research and that vulnerable children are safeguarded. You'll be responsible for progressing cases in a timely manner and may be required to participate in duty teams or rotas, handling tasks such as contacts, referrals, sec47 enquiries, child and family assessments, and care proceedings including representing the Local Authority at court.
Skills
- Knowledge of Children Act 1989, 2004 and related legislation
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Proficient in IT, including case recording
- Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments
