Who You Are
You are a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in legal domains such as planning and highways enforcement, environmental health, trading standards, and related prosecution areas. You possess excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills, and have experience in advocacy and collaborative working with a wide range of stakeholders. You are also experienced in informal coaching and supervision to support team development.
What the Job Involves
As a Senior Lawyer (Prosecutions), you will manage a caseload of complex and politically sensitive legal matters, ensuring effective governance and decision-making. The role involves providing comprehensive legal services to council colleagues, maintained schools, and trading companies. You'll support law and governance strategy, deliver training, and provide legal advice at public and private meetings. Occasional evening meetings may be required, along with providing cover within the legal team.
